I love dessert recipes. I love a good sweet treat that is full of flavor and the perfect end to dinner. Of course most desserts are loaded with calories and not healthy for me to be eating as often as I would like to have a dessert so I have been looking for other alternatives.

My most recent alternative has been baked apples. They are so easy to make and they taste amazing! My favorite way to enjoy this easy apple dessert recipe is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or vanilla frozen yogurt and then a drizzle of homemade caramel sauce on top.

How do you core an apple for filling?

Wash and dry the apples and place the apples on the cutting board. Use a pairing knife and place the tip of the pairing knife roughly 3/8ths of an inch on one side of the stem of the apple.

Push the pairing knife into the apple and rotate it around the top to cut out the core and stem while forming a hole in the middle of the apple. Discard the apple core once removed.

Looks tasty! That being said, this recipe is half butter & sugar, so it’s not a “healthy” dessert. It’s just not as bad as it could be.
